Hi, I'm Jill Peyton. I've been at Forest North serving as the counselor for many years, and there's no where else I'd rather be! This learning community means the world to me! I love the opportunities to collaborate with various staff members, assist families and create positive experiences for all of our students!
I am committed to ensuring that all students feel valued! My purpose is to educate, empower and engage all students. At Forest North we believe in educating the whole child, building relationships and providing opportunities for students to reach their full potential.
The Counseling Program is designed to encourage the optimum development of each student in the areas of:
Academic Development
Personal/Social Development
Career Development
The four components of the comprehensive developmental guidance program are:
Guidance Curriculum: Providing guidance activities in a systematic way to all students, usually through classroom meetings in the areas of:
Self-knowledge and acceptance
Interpersonal and communication skills/appreciation of diversity
Responsible behavior/personal safety
Conflict resolution
Decision making/problem solving
Motivation to achieve
Goal setting and career planning
Responsive Services: Providing counseling to address the immediate needs of students, usually through individual or group counseling.
Individual Planning: Assisting students in understanding and monitoring their own development in areas of education, personal/social and career.
System Support: Providing program management and evaluation, staff and parent support activities/services and community liaison.
